Passkeys on IOS

Hi all I am hoping someone can help me out here.

I installed another google workspace account on my IOS device so that I can test passkeys.

When I go to click passkey I get a message - "A Passkey can't be created on this device"

It then says Make sure your device's operating system is up to date ( which it is), your screen lock and bluetooth are enabled ( which it is)and that you are using a supported browser like chrome.

I believe all is enabled that way. I am doing this from the gmail app  and so am uncertain why I am seeing this message.

Now when I launch Chrome on my device I see lots of accounts so is this my issue?

Does anyone know why I am not able to do this.

Thanks all

Private iPhone with a private AppleID?

Work MDM and Managed AppleIDs may not be allowed to use Passkeys.

Do you have to manage devices in order to use passkeys. That's kinda crazy if that is the case.  Yes personal iphone and yes to personal Apple ID.

No, for passkeys it's more likely to work if neither device nor AppleID is managed!

But you need to have iCloud Keychain sync active for your AppleID.

Yes I do have that- iCloud Keychain sync active for your AppleID

And you have enabled Passwordless in Admin for the test account? And verified on a computer that Passkey is available for it, before trying to set it up on the phone?

Then it should just work, as that is exactly what I did.

I set up a passkey for a test account on my iPhone 14 Pro, using FaceID. And it was immediately available on my Mac using TouchID. Only took a few seconds to sync.

Yes I have done this. Before i use to get a message that it was not enabled. I also get a message Make sure your device’s operating system is up to date, your screen lock and bluetooth are enabled, and that you’re using a supported browser like Chrome.

Now I can tell you that my Windows computer does not have bluetooth at work
