The Gemini app and NotebookLM are now Core Services with enterprise-grade data protection

We're thrilled to announce that the Gemini app and NotebookLM are now Core Services for all Workspace for Education users, free of charge!  I posted this in the ELP Hub so please join the conversation here to share your thoughts and ask questions you may have.

All Google Workspace for Education users already had added data protection in the Gemini app, meaning their chats with Gemini are not human reviewed or used to train AI models. And last October, we added enterprise-grade data protection for qualifying Google Workspace for Education editions, including Education Standard and Education Plus. With enterprise-grade data protection, these tools:

• Are Core Services covered under the Google Workspace for Education terms of service.
• Support compliance with industry regulations, like FERPA.
• Receive the same level of technical support as other core services in Workspace, like Docs and Gmail.

How to Get Started:

• Ensure the Gemini app is enabled for your domain.
• Ensure NotebookLM is enabled for your domain. 
• Once enabled, users 13+ (or the applicable in your country) can start using the Gemini app at gemini.google.com and users 18+ can start using NotebookLM at notebooklm.google.com. 
• Let your education community know about these updates with this email template and share the following resources to help them get started:

Kristal, thank you for the great news😀! I'm excited about the Alpha Features in Gemini for Google Workspace😃. I use Gemini in Docs, Slides, Sheets, Meet, Gmail, and Drive daily😎, but not the Gemini App in my Google Workspace for Education account😭.

The inability to delete chats in the app is a major issue for me😢. As a Google Workspace for Education Superadmin, I can't even enable this option😞. Deleting chats is essential for organization, and I've noticed that other Generative AIs offer this feature. I switch browsers every other time I use my personal Gemini account, which is linked to Google One with AI Premium.

Without it, my workflow suffers😞. I can't separate personal and professional content, even use Gems, focus in one browser, or maintain my work style. I've posted this suggestion in the Google Cloud Community and would like to share it here as well.😃

Thank you, @andersonmenezes for sharing your excitement and also concerns.  I agree that deleting and even organizing chats is important and our team is definitely working on this.  In the interim, while you can't delete specific chats, you can still manage your Gemini Apps activity by turning it off and potentially deleting past data through Google's My Activity page.

Thanks, Kristal. I'm still looking forward it. By the way, My Activity isn't available for a while either if it is turned on of off.  Mine is off, I can't switch for on. I don't know why. I've tried to find out how on Google Workspace Admin Console, nor I have found. But thanks, I hope the deleting chat will available as soon as possible, I truly believe in your team.

@sheila_escobedo  I'm so glad that you find this AI tool helpful ~ I do too.   You may share Gems, you can use the "Share & export" feature in the Gemini web app, creating a public link to share the conversation and gem instructions.

This is great news!   Are there any plans for lowering the age on NoteBook LM in the future?  I would love to use this tool with HS students.
