Google Credential Provider for Windows (GCPW)

Hello,

We have deployed GCPW to our 500 administrative Windows 11 computers.  We do not have AD/Azure user accounts or domain joined computers and are exclusively relying on GCPW.  I find it alarming that the official Google documentation states that GCPW is only supported on Windows 10 and that the last update to this product was Release 94.0.4606.56: September 23, 2021 (almost 2 years ago.)

Is anyone else using GCPW?  Is Google still supporting GCPW?

We use it for a couple of student Windows computer labs, which are still on Windows 10. It's been stable for us, but yes, functionality hasn't improved (e.g. can't let computer be "trusted" in terms of 2FA). I'm hoping Google keeps it working, but it's always a gamble isn't it!

Google is happy with the current version of GCPW. It does what they set out to do.

If you want it to do more, you have to give them feedback with good arguments to develop it further.

I'm fairly sure it works on Win11, but it just isn't documented.

@AbidPatel & @rdnixon - perhaps you can fill in the blanks?

It works fine with Windows 11. In fact I'd say Windows 11 is better - much easier to do things like app pins than start menu xml files. We are mainly ChromeOS - but where we have Windows its what we use to manage them.

We weren't able to use it in the end. The showstopper for me was that GCPW doesn't support the use of Yubikeys. Our staff are not allowed to use mobile devices and so need to use Yubikeys for MFA. Unfortunately, seeing as GCPW doesn't support this, we had no choice but to go in a different direction.

Thanks, Abid.

I think GCPW would be able to support MFA, but Microsoft doesn't allow it.

Microsoft allows Yubikeys for their own Windows Hello but not for (all) third-party.
