Gemini in Chrome

Has anyone had this feature rolled out to them? It started rolling out October 2nd, and is impacting our implementation/pilot/testing to see if we want to go with Gemini for our AI product (https://workspaceupdates.googleblog.com/2025/10/use-gemini-in-chrome-ai-browsing-assistant.html). I believe I have the Gemini/Generative AI policies and settings configured properly within Admin Console (Generative AI is on for specific pilot group and is working; Chrome policies are configured as I believe they should and chrome://policy reflects those) but we're not getting the "spark" (gemini icon i believe it's called) in the Chrome browser as shown in https://gemini.google/overview/gemini-in-chrome/

Just wondering if it's still rolling out, or if we have conflicting policy settings. I've opened a ticket with Google support in the meantime.

these are the settings enabled for specific groups

Do you expect to see something like this in your Chrome browser?

This is what users are complaining is missing, the little "spark" in the window bar by the min/max/close buttons. This is the feature I believe should be showing. In a new tab I do see AI Mode, but not the "spark". Also within Gmail, we do not see anywhere the ability to "Help me write"

Disregard the help me write, that appears when right clicking some text within gmail.

After reading, I don't think we will see the icon since we are not paying for Google AI Pro or Ultra. Are you paying for one of those levels?

Forget that question. I realized it was the actual "Gemini" icon you are looking for in the browser.

We have the gemini spark Icon and we don't pay for Gemini.  Make sure Gemini is turned on for those you want to have it. We have it turned on for teachers and staff, but not students at this time. We do also have at least one user who doesn't have it yet, so I wonder if it is still rolling out?

Can you specify what settings? I have Gemini service enabled for a group of users (gemini.google.com works, meaning this setting works for the users). We have the screenshotted Chrome settings enabled for the same group of users which is related to Gemini in Chrome which I believe is what we're after (the sparkle you're showing in your screenshot). If there are other settings/services (like Workspace Labs) that have to be enabled as well, please let me know what settings you have enabled.

Additionally I just came across this https://support.google.com/mail/answer/13384326?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop which should be showing a "bubble" within a gmail compose message, but it is not there. This appears to be related to "help me write" which we have enabled (and proven working if writing a sentence then right clicking it the "help me write" shows in the context window, but no bubble)

Thank you for the clarification. I assumed it was only part of the paid versions based on this site https://gemini.google/subscriptions/. I did confirm that Gemini access is set up like you have it, staff/teachers only.

These are our settings.

I'm assuming that top setting is set at the OU level of your staff? We have that top setting turned off/unchecked at root ou our understanding is because Gemini is included with workspace edu (we have fundamentals) that having that unchecked means the users that have it enabled utilize the google workspace edu terms and privacy. Having that checked could mean that if a person pays for their own license or somehow has access to gemini, it could mean they're not covered by your education privacy (ie. not reviewed by humans)

We have it turned off at the root level as well. We have it turned on for our Staff OU. We do pay for Google Workspace. We currently have the Plus license, so maybe that is the difference?

We also pay for Google Workspace Plus. It must be a slowwww rollout.

Yes according to support they're initially rolling out to non-subscribed users first, which would probably mean that paid and general public are getting it before the free-subscription users (eg. education fundamentals which includes gemini for free)

I guess the rollout is to be finished in a few weeks per support and other documentation

I usually have most things active, at least for myself, but have none of this.

Nor do I see Workspace Studio (mentioned elsewhere).
