Hello Global GEG Community!
We have an incredibly feature-packed lineup of Google Workspace updates this week. From expanding AI capabilities directly into third-party Learning Management Systems (LMS) to smarter collaboration features in Chat and Meet, here is everything you need to know to optimize your school's digital environment.
🏫 Google Assignments LTI™ and Gemini LTI™ Now Available for Moodle
In a major win for institutional flexibility, Google is expanding the availability of Assignments LTI™ and Gemini LTI™ to include Moodle, joining existing support for Canvas and Schoology.
- The Impact: Gemini LTI™ brings Google AI tools—including the Gemini app and NotebookLM—directly into your third-party LMS. This enables students (aged 18 and older) and educators to seamlessly access generative AI assistance right within their existing course workflows.

💬 Expanding Language Support for "Refine with Gemini" in Google Chat
Polishing communication across international teams just became easier. The capability to refine message drafts with Gemini in Google Chat has expanded far beyond English.
🎬 Add AI Avatars When Converting Presentations to Vids
Building on the ability to transform Google Slides into Google Vids, you can now add a digital spokesperson to your projects. When importing your content from Slides into Vids, you can use Gemini to generate scripts and voiceovers alongside a custom AI avatar avatar to act as your presenter.
📋 Expanded Options for Header Images in Google Forms
Form creators have much more creative freedom when customizing their surveys, quizzes, and check-ins. Previously restricted to pre-selected themes, direct uploads, or Google Photos, creators can now choose header images directly from Google Drive, Google Images, or via a web URL.
🛠️ More Updates for Your Toolkit:
- NotebookLM in Workspace Studio: You can now use your existing notebooks as a grounded knowledge source for your automated workflows via the new "Ask NotebookLM" step. Details here.
- Android-Based Meet Hardware & Whiteboarding: The Neat Board series and Logitech Rally Board 65 are now fully certified for Google Meet. Additionally, third-party whiteboarding add-ons (Figma, Lucidspark, Miro) are now natively supported on Android-based Meet hardware. Details here.
- SAML Security Baseline: IT Administrators can now apply a global context-aware access (CAA) policy to all SAML applications, creating an automatic security baseline for any app without a specific policy. Details here.
- Data Import for Small Orgs: A new beta release allows small organizations to seamlessly import users directly from Microsoft to Google Workspace during initial setup. Details here.
💡Note: Licensing requirements apply to several of these features—such as NotebookLM integration and Gemini LTI capabilities. Please consult with your school’s IT Administrator to see which updates are currently supported and configured on your institutional domain.
