Today marks a significant milestone in our collective journey. As of March 12, 2026, the Google Educator Community (GEC) is officially transitioning to its new identity: the Global GEG (Global Google Educator Group).

This evolution is more than just a name change. It is a reflection of how our community has grown from a centralized forum into a worldwide movement of educators who lead, learn, and share in over 160 countries. By aligning with the Google Educator Group (GEG) program, we are strengthening the bridge between our local chapters and our global digital space.

A Neighborhood of Innovation

One of the most exciting aspects of this transition is how we are bringing the world closer together. Within the Global GEG, local GEGs from every corner of the map will now have their own "little homes." This dedicated space allows you to step inside and see the incredible work happening in classrooms from Tokyo to Toronto. Whether you are looking for a fresh perspective on STEM or a new way to approach digital well-being, you can now easily wander through these local hubs to get inspired by the unique projects and cultural insights of your peers around the globe.

A Unified Vision for 2026

The transition to Global GEG signifies a commitment to three core pillars that define our mission in this new era of education:

  • Unified Support: This change integrates our community more deeply with Google for Education’s global ecosystem, providing more streamlined access to resources, product updates, and professional development opportunities.
  • Localized Innovation at Scale: The Global GEG will continue to serve as the "Global Bridge," allowing a breakthrough in a local chapter in Tokyo or London to be shared, translated, and implemented in classrooms across the Americas and beyond.
  • Inclusive Leadership: As we lean into the potential of AI-assisted learning and advanced digital citizenship, the Global GEG remains a human-first space. We continue to ground our work in UNESCO’s Vision for Digital Transformation, ensuring technology serves as a tool for equity and access.

What Stays the Same

While our name and visual identity are evolving, the heart of this community remains unchanged. This is still your space to find inspiration, troubleshoot technical challenges, and celebrate the daily "wins" that happen in your classrooms. The archives of our discussions, the shared resources, and the connections you have built here remain intact.

As we move forward under the Global GEG banner, we celebrate the educators who have made this community a beacon of professional growth. We are proud to continue this journey together, building a future where every teacher is empowered and every student is inspired.
