As we transition from our grounding exploration of Indigenous Knowledge & Local Context, we are turning our focus toward an evolving cornerstone of global education: Literacy in a Digital Age. With the widespread integration of generative artificial intelligence, multimodal communication, and algorithmic feeds, the definition of literacy has expanded far beyond traditional pen and paper.
Because of this, we’ve chosen to dedicate September to redefining what it means to be literate today. This month is about how we equip primary and secondary learners to read words, analyze data, and critically interpret the algorithms shaping our world. When we modernize literacy, we ensure our students become critical evaluators and authors of their own stories rather than passive consumers of synthetic information.
