Event Overview Join the Global GEG for "Teaching Future-Ready Digital Habits and Cognitive Flexibility," a session in Portuguese (Brazil) dedicated to shifting the focus from technical instruction to durable student agility. Hosted by Allessandra Elisabeth dos Santos with guest Juliana Valadares Saili, we will explore how educators can foster the grit and adaptability students need to thrive in a workforce where software is in constant flux. Juliana will share how to use the Google ecosystem to scaffold unscripted problem-solving and professional communication, moving students away from reliance on real-time guidance. Discover how to replace rigid workflows with adaptive strategies that turn digital roadblocks into opportunities for growth. This session provides the essential, future-focused blueprint you need to empower your students to navigate any digital interface with confidence. Host Allessandra Elisabeth dos Santos Allessandra Elisabeth dos Santos is an English teacher, researcher, and an international speaker in the field of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Education. She holds a PhD in Education from the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS), Brazil. Her research focuses on Generative Artificial Intelligence and its impacts on the concept of writing, learning, and contemporary pedagogical practices. She is vice-leader of the TECLA (Technologies, Education and Linguistics) research group (CNPq/UFS) and was a visiting research scholar at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), USA. Allessandra also holds a Master's degree in Education from UFS and a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Education from the University of Winnipeg, Canada.  With 29 years of experience in TESOL/TEFL, she has worked as a teacher, teacher educator, and academic coordinator. As a speaker, consultant, and teacher educator, she has developed professional development sessions and presentations focused on the pedagogical, critical, and responsible use of Generative AI in education, with an emphasis on writing, lesson planning, and materials development through structured prompt writing. She is co-author of the Prompt Creation Reference Chart (dos Santos, Boa Sorte & de Oliveira, 2025), a proposal that guides teachers in designing intentional and pedagogically aligned prompts for the use of generative AI platforms. Guest Juliana Valadares Saili  Juliana Valadares Saili is a Brazilian educator, teacher trainer, author, and Google Certified Innovator based in the United Kingdom. With more than 30 years of experience in language education across Brazil and the UK, she has dedicated her career to helping learners develop the confidence, independence, and adaptability needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. An ESOL lecturer and international speaker, Juliana has recently focused on exploring how AI and digital tools can support learner autonomy, critical thinking, and responsible technology use. Her work has been featured in professional development events, conferences, and publications in both the UK and Brazil. Passionate about preparing students for an uncertain future, she believes that education should move beyond teaching specific tools and instead cultivate curiosity, resilience, problem-solving skills, and the confidence to learn continuously. Through practical classroom innovation, she encourages learners to become independent thinkers who can adapt to new technologies and challenges long after formal education ends.

Tara will share how they utilize the versatility of Google tools to move students away from rote execution and toward confident, independent digital habits. Discover how to transform your classroom into a dynamic environment where students learn to synthesize digital resources, communicate professionally across boundaries, and navigate evolving interface demands with ease. This session provides the essential, future-ready framework you need to turn digital instruction into lasting student empowerment. Guests   Tara Poolson Tara serves as a Technology Integration Specialist for the Pearl River County School District, where she helps educators make sense of technology and use it with purpose. A graduate of the ISTE+ASCD Google AI Educator Series, Tara specializes in translating complex AI tools into practical, standards-aligned classroom strategies. She is a MECA Board Member, the Technology and Communications Chair for DKG Zeta State, and Treasurer for the DKG Sigma Chapter. Tara also serves as the Women’s Ministry Director for the Pearl River Baptist Association. Whether she’s supporting teachers, serving in ministry, or solving problems behind the scenes, Tara is passionate about helping people work smarter, communicate better, and build meaningful community—and believes most problems can be solved with clarity, collaboration, and occasionally a spreadsheet. Ashton Treadaway Ashton works as an English Language Arts teacher at Pearl River Central High School. He teaches classes ranging from World Literature to Creative Writing. He is a Google level 1 certified educator, and he uses technology in the classroom to promote creativity, organization, and collaborative problem solving. He is also a self published author who harnesses technology and Google tools to increase his own productivity and performance. He believes that technology is a powerful tool to be used inside and outside of the classroom to help improve lives and learning.

We will explore how primary and secondary classrooms can weave indigenous histories, oral narratives, and community contexts into daily learning without altering local authenticity. Learn how to use the Google ecosystem to scaffold student-led storytelling, moving away from standardized curriculum templates toward culturally responsive preservation. Discover how to replace generic spatial projects with deeply localized mapping that turns traditional wisdom into a focal point for modern digital literacy. This session provides a practical, inclusive blueprint for honoring ancient perspectives using collaborative frameworks. Guest Rachel Duckworth Rachel’s first year teaching was way back in the 1900’s. Things have come a long way since then. She’s been lucky enough to teach all over Aotearoa, New Zealand, with a couple of years in London thrown in. Rachel is one of three GEG Aotearoa Leaders, and has been a Google Trainer since 2017 and an Innovator since 2019. Her innovator project centred around indigenous education and helping disconnected young Māori students to their culture.

We will examine how to use the Google ecosystem to scaffold critical evaluation, source verification, and algorithmic understanding, moving students away from passive consumption. Discover how to integrate generative tools into reading and writing workflows so students learn to analyze, critique, and direct digital content independently. At Colegio Decroly Americano, he has taught courses on Spanish, World, and Spanish-American literature, as well as the AP Spanish Literature course. He has also led the Seminar course—a long-term research project that graduating students must complete during their final year. Rodvin has developed active strategies and methodologies aimed at enhancing students' critical thinking through the analysis of literary texts, helping them appreciate the texts' continued relevance today. Guest Sheila Escobedo Sheila has been in the teaching field for more than 30 years.  She holds a BA in School Administration, and a Masters degree in Education.  She considers herself a lifelong learner, and has explored different resources to teach students from elementary to university levels.  She has worked at Colegio Decroly Americano teaching different grade levels and performing administrative roles, as well.   Her current position as Director of Learning and Teaching has allowed her to observe and help teachers grow professionally, which has impacted positively on students' learning. She holds different certifications such as: ISTE+ASCD Certified Instructional Leader, Google Innovator, Trainer, ELP Circle Facilitator, and GEG Leader.
