As we prepare our syllabi and course structures for the upcoming terms, many of us are wrestling with the same core questions:

  • How do we design assignments that encourage deep, authentic learning rather than copy-pasted AI shortcuts?
  • How do we clearly articulate the real-world workforce value of our coursework to students?
  • How do we scaffold dense, specialized research literature so that undergraduates can engage with it critically?

To help us tackle these challenges collectively, we have just published a Higher Ed Active Learning Blog Series right here in the community!

Each of the first five challenges has been designed as a plug-and-play toolkit. They pair a Google AI Educator Series (GES) module with CAST Universal Design for Learning (UDL) guidelines and world-renowned Harvard Project Zero Visible Thinking Routines.

We invite you to explore, try, and discuss these five high-impact pedagogical challenges:

How to Participate:

  1. Explore the Posts: Click any of the links above to view the challenges and copy our pre-built Gemini Canvas and Gemini Notebook prompt templates.
  2. Earn Your Micro-Credentials: Follow the on-ramps in each post to complete the free modules on the official learning launchpad.
  3. Reflect with Peers: Scroll to the comments under the blog posts and share your insights using Harvard’s "I Used to Think... Now I Think..." routine!

Let's design learning environments that value original student thought.

Which pedagogical shift are you most excited to try out in your courses? Drop a comment below, and don't forget to check out the full Google AI Educator Series Catalog.

I just finished completing all five challenges and earning the full set of Higher Ed micro-credentials, and it has been an incredibly enriching experience! As I work through building, editing, and revising my Public Speaking courses for upcoming terms, these toolkits provided exact, practical solutions to the exact core questions so many of us are wrestling with. Integrating tools like Gemini Canvas and NotebookLM alongside Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and Harvard Project Zero Visible Thinking Routines has fundamentally shifted how I approach assignment design.

For my Public Speaking classes, moving toward process-based evaluations, constructing authentic role-play simulations for audience analysis, and directly mapping speech outcomes to technical frameworks (like the Google AI Professional Certificate and workforce competencies) has given my syllabus a clear, modern purpose. It ensures students aren't using generative tools to bypass thinking, but are instead engaging in visible, high-level learning.

Thank you for putting together such a high-impact, plug-and-play series, I highly recommend taking the time to complete all of the modules!

Hi, eu também fiz os 05 desafios e tenho uma dúvida. Posso criar posts no Linkedin e Blog Pessoal com instruções para os desafios? Reescrever o passo-a-passo para não enviar link da comunidade no público?
