The Google for Education Community Platform

In a recent "EDU on Air for Higher Education" session, academic leaders explored how to build collaborative AI policies while respecting academic freedom and digital equity. Learn how to transition from restrictive silos to active, educator-led governance.

As we prepare our syllabi and course structures for the upcoming terms, many of us are wrestling with the same core questions:

• How do we design assignments that encourage deep, authentic learning rather than copy-pasted AI shortcuts?
• How do we clearly articulate the real-world workforce value of our coursework to students?
• How do we scaffold dense, specialized research literature so that undergraduates can engage with it critically?

To help us tackle these challenges collectively, we have just published a Higher Ed Active Learning Blog Series right here in the community!

Each of the first five challenges has been designed as a plug-and-play toolkit. They pair a Google AI Educator Series (GES) module with CAST Universal Design for Learning (UDL) guidelines and world-renowned Harvard Project Zero Visible Thinking Routines.

We invite you to explore, try, and discuss these five high-impact pedagogical challenges:

• Challenge #5: 📊 Smart Grading: Designing Objective Rubrics with Gemini (Focus: Co-designing robust, multi-tiered grading matrices in Canvas)

We’ve designed this infrastructure to be a lab for the possible, not just a repository for tips and tricks. Here is how you can use this space to move your work forward:

• The Main Discussion Forum: This space you're in right now is our "thinking in public" space. Bring your prototypes, your breakthroughs, and the critical questions that lead to better design.

• Curriculum Resources: This is where we trade abstract theory for execution. You’ll find Gemini-ready materials designed to move students from passive consumers to critical architects of their own inquiry. It will also be a space for you to share your resources.

• Google Faculty Groups: Use the Find Groups tool to connect with peers in your specific discipline. Whether it's Social Sciences, Engineering, or Library & Digital Scholarship, this is where the hyper-local innovations happen. Each of these specialized groups also include Discussion forums, Event spaces, and a Stay Informed blog for specialized resources and information aligned to roles and interests.

• Events: Register for regional and global webinars that focus on current issues in higher education "how" of teaching and researching in a Gemini-enabled world.
