ReShaping Teaching and Learning with Intelligent Tools
Sharing insights about a very interesting and an interactive online session with participants mostly teachers and school heads from KIPS School. The session focused on exploring the potential of online tools and how these tools can transform teaching and learning in classrooms. The session was created in Google Sites with attendance and feedback forms created in Google Forms. Some of the collaborative activities were created in Google Docs. The session started with checking participants prior knowledge about using the various AI tools like NotebookLM, Gemini, ChatGPT and Canva. This was done using Google Forms, it was impressive seeing live data being updated on the charts in Google Forms. In the next step participants created a "Beginners User Guide to use AI tools" using the AI tools like Gemini , ChatGPT, Canva and NotebookLM. They were guided through practical demonstration how to write the exact prompts to generate a beginners user guide.
The next task was about converting a traditional teacher centred lesson plan into a student centric lesson plan using either of the AI tools. This was followed by a good discussion on the differences between two plans. The participants could see how the role of the teacher shifts from a lecturer to a facilitator in a student centric lesson. The students become more active in learning process.
In the next task participants were provided with raw data on the test sessions and were asked to use either of the tools Gemini, ChatGPT, Canva and NotebookLM to find trends and key insights from data. In the next tasks they were provided with a choice board of activities created in Google docs and they were asked to select a task of their choice and complete using either of the AI tools. The session ended with participants sharing a star idea from the session which they will try in their classrooms. Overall the session feedback was very positive and encouraging.
Was awe inspired by the participants willingness and eagerness to explore the tools and their features. I could visualise our classrooms transformed by the immense potential of AI in our schools.
