Imortant Request: Give Admins Control to En(Dis)able "Delete Chat" in Google AI Pro for Education

The ability to delete chats within Gemini for Google Workspace, specifically for Google AI Pro for Education plans, is a crucial feature that needs implementation. Users who prioritize organization and a tidy screen, like myself, find it essential to manage and clear their chat history to maintain focus. The visual clutter from a large number of chats significantly hinders my study and workflow, making it difficult to find relevant information.

For a paid subscription plan, Super Admins should, at the very least, be given the administrative control to enable or disable this chat deletion option for their users.

The lack of this functionality became a significant issue for me, as I use Gemini frequently every day, leading to an overwhelming volume of chats. The lack of a chat deletion feature in my Google Workspace for Education account ultimately prevented me from using Gemini there. Instead, I use it with my personal account, which allows me to delete chats.

I strongly urge the Google Workspace team to consider this suggestion to enhance the user experience and simplify our 'Google life.'

I utilize Gemini multiple times a day and agree completely. I've taken to renaming chats that are throwaway that I won't need to reference again to "done" so it's easier to scroll the list to find older chats or pinned chats that have content I still need to reference. However, it is clunky. Often I switch to my personal account if I know I just need something quick, which isn't best practice. And that means my teachers will end up doing the same- something we very much want them to NOT do while at work.

I should be able to enable/disable the ability to delete conversations by OU or group just like I can alter settings for anything else in GAC.

Wow! I see how you try to "organize" renaming the ones you don't wanna as chats anymore. But, it shouldn't be the way to make our life easier. I pay for the Gemini AI Pro for Education and I just use it in Docs, Slides etc, but I don't use the Gemini App because of this limitation. If I want to use Gemini App, I just use it in my personal account because I have the AI Pro Google One plan. I pay for those plans for different purposes, personal and professional stuff and I really like to separate them. It makes me feel bad about it.

Yeah our org pays for the license for me as well for Gemini AI Pro for Ed. It's a bit ridiculous that we can't have granular control over every setting for it.

You can say that again! I feel really frustrated without deleting unimportant chats.

I can understand the desire of some districts to not "delete" chats as often they have data retention policies to adhere to. Instead, I would like a way to archive the chat so that they do not show up on my list and clutter up everything. Additionally, it would be great to have labels where I can organize my chats according to my needs.

Yes, yes and yes!
