I've been asked to do this and have been looking at the rules/alerts to see if its possible. I've been asked for an email whenever a new student account is created and what building (probably OU in this case) they are in. But just for students. Is this possible to automate?

Report on User Creation, yes, not a problem.

But since the OU a user is created in doesn't seem to be logged, you can't filter by that.

You can only get alerts for all users.

Yea thats what I found to no way to not get all users.

But... using GAMADV-XTD3 you could use a workaround, reporting on a regular basis.

In this guide I explain how to set a Gmail signature on newly created users, but only if they reside in the Staff OU (matchfield orgUnitPath "^/Grundskolor.*").

You can perhaps use that idea as inspiration on how to send yourself an email. only when a student account is created. However, as there should be soooo many more student accounts created, what's the harm in getting an alert regardless of user type?

Here I am assuming that your username syntax or domain names differ between staff and student so it's obvious what type of user was created.
