Google Screencast recordings

Hey all, have we got any closer to the ability for Google Screencast recordings AND their associated transcripts to be shared OUTSIDE the screencast app?  As an encapsulated product?

Last time I checked, you can share the video itself with someone off of a chromeOS device, but not the transcripts that are created.

The files are shared from Drive, so I altered the folder permissions in Drive, which now that I think about it, is a bit of a workaround and should really be an option in the app.

Transcript not even available in the Screencast Viewer? Just keep pushing feedback to the devs. All content need to be exportable.

Screencast viewer?  Did I miss something?  What is that?

Screencasts can only be created on Chromebooks, but are supposedly possible to view on other hardware, and then it needs to be done through a "viewer". That viewer should, of course, have capability of playing all content.

And where can I get/download this "viewer"?

No clue. I've never been able to do any screencasts because it's not available in Swedish for me.

Could also be an online only thing, and perhaps not even released yet...

Hi has anyonefound a viewer that works on windows and Mac devices?

Nothing standalone is available, I think.

But I also think they play fine in Drive?

Screencast records on Chromebooks, you can then edit the video by editing the text in the transcript. If you press share (and change the permissions), that gives a link that can be viewed on any device. As an example, here's a link (set to anyone with the link can view) to one of my recordings...

Interesting!  How did you make yours publicly viewable?  When I choose the share option I am only prompted with "keep it private" or "share with others" but only lets me share to anyone in my domain with the link.  I do not see the option for "anyone with the link".

The files are shared from Drive, so I altered the folder permissions in Drive, which now that I think about it, is a bit of a workaround and should really be an option in the app.

Thanks!  This helps a lot!

Thanks @AndyCaffrey - always nice to hear from someone who has been able to use the feature for real.
