Esignature on Google Docs for outside domain?

Does anyone know if you're able to send documents to be esigned by someone outside your domain?  We're trying to do this with our Student Support Plans.  Some of the signatures are inside our domain and some are not.

Anyone with an email address can sign.

During the sign process, Google will create a Google account for the user, with the only purpose of signing.

If the email address is a Google account, that will, of course, not happen.

Found this: https://support.google.com/docs/answer/12315692?hl=en

Was new to me, but I confirmed it shows up in my Docs.  I still don't love that it ends up not being a native Google Doc - and instead gets turned into a PDF. (But I can think of a few reasons why that is that way)

The one and only reason is that nothing else is an acceptable signed document. 🙂

Only Adobe's PDF files has that acceptance in the world.

The file has to be non-editable, and that's what PDF is (or used to be, before fillable PDF forms were created).
