Title: Providing Equity Through Sustainability

Date/Time: March 19, 1PM Eastern

Description: The pandemic accelerated the adoption of 1:1 technologies to support remote learning. However, was your district ready for 1:1 learning in the classroom? Many of the same challenges that existed pre-pandemic that slowed the adoption of 1:1 learning still exist. The pandemic has also introduce new challenges. Does your community associate 1:1 technologies with remote learning? Jeff began planning 1:1 learning programs in January of 1993, and later was 10 years at the helm of the Maine Learning Technology Initiative (MLTI). He will share his thoughts and recommendations on how to enact a sustainable program in the "new normal" to bring real equity of access.

Bio: Jeff Mao brings over 30 years of experience in the education sector. Currently he serves as the Executive Director of Vita-Learn, the state of Vermont's CoSN Chapter organization. He is an education technology leader who provides strategic consulting services to schools and edtech companies, keynote speaking at regional, national and international events, and professional learning workshops with a focus on education technology, 1:1 learning, and education policy.
 Jeff is an internationally known education technology leader. Jeff has keynoted international events sponsored by UNESCO, World Bank, InterAmerica-Development Bank, Association of Independent Schools of NSW, and the Korean Education and Research Information Service. In the United States, he has keynoted state conferences including NYSCATE (New York) and VITA-Learn (Vermont), and presented at events hosted by organizations including ISTECoSN, SETDAFETC, TASATCEAVSTE, CETPA He served on the Board of Directors of the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA) for six years including two as Chair of the Board.
