Hello, Global GEG!
We are entering the third week of Educator Well-Being month, and the conversation is shifting. We’ve talked about "The Heart of the Classroom" and "Quieting the Noise." Now, it’s time to talk about The Architecture.
In 2026, we know that burnout isn't usually caused by a lack of passion; it’s caused by a lack of sustainable systems. When our workflows are cluttered and our lessons require constant "bolted-on" fixes to reach every student, our mental energy drains. This week, we are hosting two landmark events designed to help you reclaim that energy by building smarter, more inclusive systems from the ground up.
Grounding Our Vision
We are grounding this week in the UNESCO Education 2030 Framework, which emphasizes that for education to be truly resilient, the systems must support the well-being and professional autonomy of the teacher. By using Universal Design for Learning (UDL), we create classrooms where "access" is a natural part of the environment, not an extra task on your to-do list.
This Week’s Global GEG Highlights:
- The Balanced Educator: Reclaiming Time (May 20) Join us tomorrow for "The Balanced Educator: Reclaiming Time with Smart Workflows." We’ll be joined by our friends at GEG Utah to explore how to transition from being "always on" to "intentionally present." We will dive deep into:
- Automating the Mundane: Using Gemini and NotebookLM to handle the administrative heavy lifting.
- Your Question: What is your biggest "time-drain" in the classroom? We want to answer your specific workflow questions during the live session—drop them in the comments!
- Built In, Not Bolted On: Accessibility & UDL (May 21) In honor of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, join us for "Built In, Not Bolted On." Featuring Dr. Rocco Catrone and Noa Minter, this session reframes accessibility as the architecture of the lesson, not a post-it note at the end. We will demonstrate:
- The UDL Framework: Using CAST UDL Guidelines to simplify your planning rather than complicate it.
- Your Question: As a coach or teacher, what is the hardest part of making accessibility "built-in" for you? Let us know what you'd like Dr. Catrone to address!
- Global Spotlight: Balance with Digital Tools (Hindi Language Session) We are also proud to highlight a special regional session led by our community leaders at GEG NCR New Delhi. Conducted entirely in Hindi, this event focuses on how educators across India can use technology to enhance peace of mind rather than workload.
- Mindful Pedagogy: Discover practical hacks for reclaiming personal time, from using Gemini for rapid lesson prep to managing communication boundaries through Google Workspace for Education.
- Meet the Experts: Led by National ICT Award winner Sangeeta Gulati, the session features an incredible panel of Google Certified Innovators and resource creators: Sanchita Ghosh, Roopali Arora, and Vibha Puri.
- Details: Check your local dashboard in the Global GEG homes for exact broadcast times and access links to support our colleagues in this localized learning event!
Gemini Practical Tip: The Workflow Auditor To prepare for this week’s events, try this "System-Care" prompt in Gemini:
"I am an educator looking to audit my weekly workflow. Can you identify 3 common administrative tasks in a K-12 setting that can be automated using Google Workspace AI tools? For each, provide a specific 'time-saver' tip that would help me reclaim 15 minutes of my day."
Your Turn to Lead the Conversation: Well-being is a collective effort. Which of these two sessions are you most excited for, and what is one "system" in your classroom you are hoping to streamline this week? We can't wait to see you on Google Meet!
