The October 2026 Content Drop webinar continued the ongoing monthly expansion of the Google AI Educator Series (GES). Hosted by Zac Chase and Dr. Leah Lattimore, this session unveiled five brand-new learning modules designed to build critical AI literacy across both K-12 and Higher Education environments.
We encourage you to explore and complete these newly released modules and earn your micro-credential badges! Don’t forget to share your achievements on social media and tag Google for Education so we can celebrate your growth with our global educator network.
All materials remain aligned with ISTE+ASCD Standards (covering Student, Teacher, and Higher Education Faculty standards) as well as the Profile of an AI-Ready Graduate, providing flexible, no-cost professional learning that fits directly into an educator's daily workflow. Below is a summary of the drop along with a full recording. You can also register for November’s content drop here!
The 5 New Modules
During the broadcast, the hosts highlighted that while modules are tagged as K-12 or Higher Ed to guide initial entry points, the strategies, prompts, and pedagogical frameworks are highly versatile and can be adapted across any grade level, discipline, or institution.
Module 01: Empowering Digital Citizens with Be Internet Awesome (U13) (K-12)
Overview & Learning Objective: Introduces the award-winning Be Internet Awesome curriculum (holding the ISTE Seal of Approval). Educators learn how to facilitate the U13 Internet Safety curriculum to teach foundational digital safety, password security, phishing detection, evaluating information credibility, and modeling positive online communication without requiring direct student interaction with chatbots.
Practical Classroom Application: Provides structured curriculum guides and practical classroom strategies to help students investigate topics, evaluate claims, compare sources, and involve families/caregivers in conversations around online safety.
Profile of an AI-Ready Graduate: Researcher — Prepares students to critically investigate digital topics, evaluate claims, and compare diverse sources of information.
ISTE+ASCD Standards Alignment:
- Citizen: 3.a (Create Positive Experiences), 3.b (Evaluate Resources for Credibility), 3.c (Model Safe, Legal, Ethical Practices)
- Facilitator: 6.b (Foster Classroom Management of Tech)
- Citizen / Designer: 5.b (Design Authentic Learning Activities)
Module 02: Facilitate Interactive Experiences with AI Quests: Dusky Dunes (K-12)
Overview & Learning Objective: Stemming from collaboration with Google DeepMind, this gamified simulation takes place in a fictional desert setting ("Dusky Dunes") to explore healthcare decision-making support. Educators learn to facilitate the quest to teach how AI assists medical professionals with diagnoses, the crucial role of diverse training data, data privacy, and the absolute necessity of human oversight.
Pedagogical Value: Acts as safe "training wheels" to teach students how machine learning and smart technology operate in the real world—expanding their understanding beyond text chatbots—without placing students directly in front of open-ended generative AI tools.
Profile of an AI-Ready Graduate: Problem Solver & Synthesizer — Places students in simulation scenarios where they analyze data, evaluate trends, and collaborate to design solutions.
ISTE+ASCD Standards Alignment:
- Designer: 2.5.b (Design Authentic Learning Activities), 2.5.a (Accommodate Learner Differences)
- Facilitator: 2.6.c (Teach Computational and Design Thinking)
- Citizen: 2.3.b (Evaluate Resources for Credibility)
Module 03: Create Classroom-Ready Instructional Materials (K-12 Foundational / Pedagogical)
Overview & Learning Objective: Drawing from Google's Generative AI for Educators coursework, this session trains educators to apply structured prompt frameworks in Gemini and utilize Gemini Notebook to draft, differentiate, and verify classroom-ready learning materials.
Human-in-the-Loop Pedagogy: Emphasizes keeping the educator in the lead. Rather than having Gemini blindly generate student-facing materials, educators use it as a brainstorming/synthesis partner to overcome the "blank page," actively applying ethical guidelines to safeguard student privacy, reduce bias, cross-check citations, and eliminate hallucinations. It also supports Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles by creating accessible pathways for diverse learners.
Profile of an AI-Ready Graduate: Synthesizer and Learner — Teaches educators to guide learners in organizing complex texts into targeted resources and partnering with AI to iterate and solve challenges.
ISTE+ASCD Standards Alignment:
- Designer: 2.5.a (Accommodate Learner Differences), Design Authentic Learning Activities
- Citizen: 2.3.b (Evaluate Resources for Credibility), 2.3.d (Manage, Protect Data)
- Analyst: 2.7.a (Offer Alternative Assessments)
Module 04: Analyzing & Acting on Mid-Semester Feedback (Higher Education)
Overview & Learning Objective: Designed for mid-term checkpoints, this module instructs faculty on leveraging Gemini as a research assistant to synthesize large volumes of qualitative student feedback (collected via Google Forms or institutional surveys) into actionable insights.
Actionable Reflection: Instructors use a structured "Start, Stop, Continue" framework, draft transparent communication plans to address feedback with students, and generate accessible visual dashboard components (such as Gemini Canvas/vibe coding or LMS embeds) to close the feedback loop.
Profile of an AI-Ready Graduate: Connector — Supports transparent communication and builds constructive dialogue between instructors and learners.
ISTE+ASCD Standards Alignment:
- Leader: Model and Share Effective Use
Module 05: Facilitate AI-Assisted Debate Simulations (Higher Education)
Overview & Learning Objective: Inspired by critical AI literacy and research into AI co-scientists, this module equips faculty to design and facilitate debate simulations where Gemini debates itself across opposing viewpoints.
The "Moderator Seat": Lowers emotional friction and anxiety in controversial or difficult dialogues by placing the student in the objective judge/moderator seat. Students evaluate arguments from both sides using structured rubrics, spot logical fallacies, check factual claims for hallucinations, and synthesize balanced conclusions without taking the easy way out.
Profile of an AI-Ready Graduate: Researcher & Connector — Empowers learners to critically evaluate opposing arguments, detect flawed logic, and arrive at evidence-based conclusions.
ISTE+ASCD Standards Alignment:
- Leader: Model and Share Effective Use
Program Structure & Implementation Pathways
The series continues to be organized across three distinct structural pillars:
- Foundational Understanding
- Pedagogical Applications
- Administrative Applications
Educators and institutional leaders can utilize the curriculum through two main pathways:
Pathway A: In-Person / Facilitator-Led (The Preferred Design)
- Developed specifically for school district leaders, instructional coaches, and GEG champions conducting live sessions.
- Facilitators gain access to complete Google Slides training decks that can be copied, customized, and edited. Each deck includes scripted talk tracks, lesson designs, and embedded demonstration videos.
- Comprehensive Facilitator Guides:
Pathway B: Self-Paced Learning (Online Courses)
- Available directly through the Google for Education Learning Center.
- Acts as an online course format where individual educators or those who missed in-person training can review pedagogical overviews, complete interactive practice, and take badging assessments independently.
