One statement from Ben Gomes, Google's Chief Technologist for Learning & Sustainability, stood out to me:

As educational leaders navigate the rapidly evolving world of AI, this perspective is an important reminder. The goal of AI is not to replace teachers, relationships, or the human connection that inspires learning. The opportunity is to use AI to remove barriers, personalize learning, reduce administrative burden, and create more time for the interactions that matter most.

Google's vision highlights a future where AI helps students access content in ways that meet their individual needs while helping educators focus on inspiration, curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful student engagement.

As leaders, we should be asking ourselves:

🔹 How are we ensuring AI enhances—not replaces—the human connections that drive learning?

🔹 What professional learning do our educators need to effectively leverage AI while maintaining strong instructional practices?

🔹 How do we prevent AI from creating a new digital divide and ensure equitable access for all students?

🔹 What evidence will we use to determine whether AI is actually improving teaching and learning outcomes?

🔹 How are we preparing students for a future where AI literacy will be as important as digital literacy?

The future of education will not be defined by technology alone. It will be defined by how thoughtfully we use technology to amplify the impact of great educators.
