As a Google Community Leader, one of my favorite parts of #ISTE2026 was spending time with the Google for Education team and seeing how their vision continues to evolve around one central idea:
AI should empower educators and expand opportunities for every learner.
This year's announcements reinforced that Google is thinking beyond individual tools and focusing on building an ecosystem that helps educators teach, students create, and leaders implement AI responsibly.
Some of my biggest takeaways included:
💡 Gemini continues to transform teaching and learning. From lesson planning and content creation to personalized learning experiences, Google is building AI capabilities that save educators time while keeping them in control.
📖 AI Literacy is becoming foundational. Google's partnership with ISTE+ASCD to provide AI literacy training for millions of educators demonstrates that successful AI implementation isn't just about technology—it's about preparing people to use it thoughtfully and ethically.
🎥 Powerful new creativity tools. Updates across Google Workspace for Education, NotebookLM, Google Vids, and Gemini are making it easier than ever for students to research, collaborate, create, and demonstrate their learning in meaningful ways.
🔒 Responsible AI remains at the forefront. Every conversation I had emphasized privacy, security, and giving districts the governance tools needed to implement AI confidently and responsibly.
I left inspired—not because of the technology alone—but because of the people committed to ensuring these innovations create better outcomes for students and support teachers in meaningful ways.
The future of education will belong to school systems that embrace innovation while keeping learning, equity, and human connection at the center of every decision.
Thank you to the incredible Google for Education team for the conversations, demonstrations, and continued partnership. I'm excited to bring these ideas back to Atlanta and continue helping educators leverage AI to create extraordinary learning experiences.
