Students Accessing Others' Work

The students can see each other's work but cannot edit it. Is there a setting in the Admin Console that would prevent this?   Thank you!

That usually means that the teacher has manually shared the content in an inappropriate way, as this is not how Classroom works.

I need to apologize. After further investigation, it is not a Classroom issue. In Google Drive, a student named "Fred" can search for another student named "Will," and the search will pull up "Will's" work. It does not matter what grade level. If "Fred" is a 3rd grade student, he can find "Will's" 8th grade work.  "Fred" cannot edit but can view.  Please advise.

Can you check the Sharing Settings in Google Admin Console for the OU that the students are in? In Google Admin Console>Apps>Google Workspace>Drive and Docs>Sharing Settings>General Access Default is set to Private to the owner and not "The primary target audience can search and find the item."

Your suggested setting,  "Private" is the setting for all OUs.

Are all of the files that the students can view in the same folder, such as a teacher's Google Classroom assignment folder? The folder itself might have sharing set to ON.

No, it appears to be random documents from different classes and dates.
