How to turn off split screen?

Is this a hardware issue or just a keyboard shortcut I can't find? How do I turn this off?

I have seen something similar a couple times, it was only shifted a quarter of the way across the screen not halfway.  In those instances it was hardware failure and we had to replace the screen.

Yes, it does appear to be hardware issue. A bit after I took this photo the 1/2 screen shifted to distorted lines.
