We are stating to see an inability to log into a Chromebook. You enter username and password, then it looks like it is going to log in, but takes you back to the username screen. I too see nothing on the App Status page.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Same here in Kenosha WI. Also having issues saving settings within google getting a generic "error saving". Also with our users failing to send emails yesterday... i wonder if something larger is going on at google... they do have an actively exploited zero day maybe they're being hammered. ..

This might not be related, but Clever just sent a notification out that they are having issues with Google SSO.

Clever is also trending on Downdetector.

Same! I wonder why it they're so reluctant to use their own status dashboard when it's such a widespread issue?

I'm in California and I'm seeing problems with enrolling Chromebooks and student logins.

Is the issue with a Google API or something related to IDP?

Folks having issues, are you using 3rd party integration/tools/services for login?

Also, are you seeing the issue with ONLY Chromebooks? Or Chrome/Gmail and other Google services?

Is it affected people who were already logged in or only new login attempts?

Any web sign in link as well as chromebooks.

I received this error just attempting to login to admin.google.com.  It turns out it was temporary for me, but it still seems to be affecting folks in our domain.

Same in Wilmot, WI new sign ins appear to not be working at all. If they log in it just brings them right back to the sign in screen

Email after the status update:

This Apps outage alert is to inform you of a Google Workspace issue affecting some of the supported services. The alert details include:

  • Status: Ongoing

  • Summary: Our team is continuing to investigate this issue.
  • Next update estimate: Thursday, Sep 18, 2025, 4:20:00 PM (UTC)

Key word here being "ONGOING"

We're starting to get reports of issues now, so it's certainly not "resolved"

I'm still seeing the Chrome OS login problem.

We are now seeing devices coming down as being locked... but when we get into the admin console (thankfully we are still logged in there) they are not showing as locked...

I suspect this is related somehow...

I wonder if it's part of the Chrome OS protection design to keep users from brute forcing it while in a "I cant talk to Google right now" situation.  I remember the old days of Ipads when our students would take them out into the forest to get away from all connections and get the device to reset back to factory settings (which would then allow them to access the device as a new device...)

So far, is this ONLY on ChromeOS devices?  Has anyone had any issues with any Google service on Windows/Mac whatever?

I've not heard about this affecting any other OS.

Unrelated to OS, our users were having issues logging into websites we had configured with Google SSO earlier today (all timed out with a 502 error), but that seems to have cleared up.

Just got an email from ClassLink that the issue should be resolved. Phew.

Still not working correctly here.  Students attempting to log into a new Chromebook or kiosk device are redirected to a black screen after the authentication appears to start (i.e., "Please wait...").

I have received emails from a lot of neighboring school districts, and they continue to have issues. The only workaround is to connect the devices to a hotspot and get signed in, then reconnect to their school network.
