Google Earth Project

Hello all, hoping someone can assist. I just finished up a Google Support session and we worked out what's going on.

We have a teacher who is trying to have students access this lesson from PBS. When you click "Launch" it goes into Google Earth. On a student account they get a prompt to request access. On a staff account it works fine. Support deemed that it's an over 18 service and our students will be unable to access it. However, on a test student account I'm able to go to Google Earth and use it fine since we have the service on and consent allowed. We just can't access this project for some reason. I had other admins try it in their district with the same results. Once I moved my test student account into our staff OU, it worked fine. I just don't understand why the students can access Google Earth itself but not the project if they're labled under 18?

This particular project isn't truly part of Google Earth, but probably deemed a separate unlisted service.

A setting which you probably have disabled for students.

Especially if you knew about this before I did. 🙂

I just checked and that setting is already currently set to ON for the student OU who cannot access the project.

Nothing in the logs?

I'll be honest. I'm not even sure which log to look in for this type of issue.

I'm not very familiar with Google Earth but looks like it stores projects in Google Drive.

With that in mind I would check sharing settings. I assume that your students can't access items from outside of your domain?
