Gmail group email settings.

I changed a setting back in March and for the love of God I cannot find it...  I have looked in the audit logs for the week of and don't see anything that seems to fit.

I was a asked to change this earlier this year and am now being asked to revert that change.  I do not recall if this is a per-group advanced setting setting or a Gmail setting, etc.  I've gone through several locations and am apparently blind!

Scenario:  User 1 is a member of Group A.  User 1 sends an email to Group A.

Where is the setting to that would determine if the User 1  would receive a copy of the email that was sent?

The default and standard behavior of Google Groups is that a person who sends an email to the group will not receive a copy of that email in their inbox because the email is already in their Sent folder.

This is consistent even if the communication is 'sent as the group email'.

A user would need to add their email, in addition to the group, in order to receive it.

Perhaps you are thinking of Routing rule options and whether or not to also route to the original location?

Agreed.  We had complaints about the lack of receiving emails because "They didn't know if it actually sent".

At a conference, they had shown us how to change this behavior.  I have an mp3 of the training but I haven't gone through the 6+ hours at this point...

We had changed the behavior to send everyone in the group the email, even if they were the sender.

Of course, they now want this setting reversed...  I can tell you the date it happened on, but I am not seeing what I would expect in the audit logs.  Honestly, I'm not sure this is an admin panel setting, a Google Groups setting, or what...  It's been 6 months...

I would warn others of getting old... my memory is not as great as it used to be.

You can always get AI to transcribe the 6+ hrs MP3 and search the text... Maybe NotebookLM does that too? I know it will OCR images for text, perhaps it will transcribe audio into searchable text.

I actually loaded the MP3s into notebook LM and had it searched through the transcripts as well as the MP3s. I was surprised that I actually took the MP3s to be honest with you.

But none of which were helpful. It seems like it was on the right track but not the right information.

I know I got it at that conference so I got to load up some other resources and see if I can find anything else. I'm starting to think that this was a gam setting, but I'm going to start diving through some things tomorrow.

Awesome suggestion though!

I always tell people to email it to themselves and use BC to send to others whenever possible.

To be clear... we changed the setting in Google (Admin/Groups/Gmail) to enable everyone in the group to receive the email even if they were the sender.

I just cannot remember how I did it so I can undo it!
