Gemini Data Privacy Contradiction

Hi all!

I came across what appears to be a contradiction in Google's data privacy policy regrarding Gemini and Workspace Edu.

During a webinar, Google stated Gemini's chatbot could be used by anyone on your edu domain, and they would be afforded free data protections:

Access Gemini with added data protection – free of charge

Added data protection

Coming soon, when using Gemini with your school account your chats will not be reviewed by anyone to improve AI models, used for training AI models, or shared with other users or institutions

However, when I checked our domain's Gemini settings, the setting has this wording:

Allow all users access to Gemini, under the following conditions:
Users without a Gemini for Workspace (Business, Enterprise, or Education) license: These users can access Gemini under the Google Terms of Service and the Gemini Apps Privacy Notice. Customer Data from usage under these terms may be used for model improvement and reviewed by humans. Advise users not to enter confidential information.

Users with a Gemini for Workspace (Business, Enterprise, or Education) license: These users can access Gemini with Customer Data protections. Customer Data protections are offered under the Google Workspace Terms or Workspace for Education Terms. Customer Data will not be used for model improvements nor reviewed by humans.

At first glance, there is a contradiction between what Google said in their webinar and the settings in the admin console.  Has anyone noticed this yet or heard any clarifications?

The discrepancy is because it has not rolled out yet.  It's still in the "Coming Soon" phase.  The admin console will reflect this once it's been officially launched.  @jpark  and @steve

I believe they have yet to roll out the "added data protections" for EDU users, but it's coming soon?

Any updates?

Yes. If you go to gemini.google.com now with an Edu account you'll see a notice letting you know that data entered won't be "used for training the model or reviewed by humans". Still supposed to be just for 18+.

I believe the part in yellow is new...  This is in our EDU domain...
