ChromeOS Certified Administrator course

Hi all,

I want to let you know about a bootcamp being offered by Matt Snoxell from the APAC Google ChromeOS Enterprise team. Matt is planning to run a virtual admin bootcamp towards the end of Q3, start of Q4.  It is aimed primarily at folk in the APAC region.

You can express an interest in this course using this form.

The course will be geared to people in the APAC region who want to certify as a ChromeOS Certified Administrator. The course will cover a wide range of knowledge and skills needed to manage a Google and ChromeOS environment, and prepare you for taking the ChromeOS Admin exam. The cost of the certification exam is usually USD$125, but Google is making it free until 2025.

Matt is based in Sydney and is extremely knowledgeable about ChromeOS management. I learn something new every time I speak to him. For those of you who manage a ChromeOS environment and want to learn more, and want to get your ChromeOS Certified Administrator certification, I would highly recommend this course.

I was wondering, does that examination still have activity based questions, or has it been nerfed to theoretical questions only? I was very disappointed when the Certified Educator examinations dropped activities, so was really glad when I had to actually do things the two times when I have taken the ChromeOS Admin cert.

As I've done the exam in its beta phase, both times, I also had to do many more questions, which was a challenge, but still fun. 🙂

Hi Kim,

When I took the ChromeOS Admin Certificate exam myself, it had both a multiple-choice type section, and a practical hands-on component.  I remember that I was a bit concerned about the M/C section, but passed on the first attempt, whereas I was very confident with my practical component and felt that I nailed it, but then failed and had to do a retake.  So it definitely had both components when I did it, and I have not heard that has changed.

I'll ask at work to check, and report back here if I learn otherwise.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I checked about the exam and it has apparently been changed to all Multiple Choice questions now. Or "nerfed", as you say.

Like you, I prefer the active questions.  But apparently, it's easier to maintain and update this way, and probably also easier to cater for more languages.  That was certainly the rationale for the changes to the Google Certified Educator exams.

Yes, that's a real shame, as that was the only test that still had activities.

Doing things for real is still a very different skill than just knowing things.

Have test results been posted?
