[Action Required] Update your users’ institution department before May 27, 2024 to prevent showing duplicated organization names

Dear Edu Administrator,

You are receiving this notification because you have set both institution name and institution department for your users, where department includes the institution name.

Starting May 27, 2024, the institution name and department will appear on the personal information cards and Contacts sidebar.

Please update your users’ institution department before May 27, 2024 to prevent showing duplicated institution names.

You can do this via the Admin console or via the Admin SDK API with the list and update commands.

Do note that this may or may not apply to your organisation, as it depends on how you use those attributes.

@RossScroggs - I can't immediately see if this requires a change of GAMADV-XTD3. I assume they only mention the APIs as a quick method to update the values of the attributes. Please, feel free to give a working example on how to make sure the values are correct, and how to update them.

So just for clarification:

• organizations[].name = The name set in Account > Account settings > Name?
• organizations[].department = The department set under Directory > Users > User information > Employee information > Department?
  

So in the example pictures those would be Ink-42 and Global Operations respectively. In the picture, the Senior Business Manager is set through the "Job title" field under the user profile, next to the Department.

No, organizations[].name is not used as a reference on the user details.

Account > Account settings > Name

That's only a general reference to the entire Workspace account.

organizations[].department = Yes, this Is the value set in Directory > Users > User information > Employee information > Department.

organizations[].name = This value is currently not visible among the attributes in User information. It can only be set via API, and seen when viewing the user in the Directory
