What’s New in Google for Education? Gemini Is Expanding for K–12 Learners
Gemini in Google Classroom is becoming available to K–12 students of all ages—when access is enabled by their school district.
Students can use their class materials to create:
• Practice quizzes
• Flashcards
• Study guides
• Audio overviews
• Infographics
• Guided learning experiences
This represents an important shift from students using a general-purpose chatbot to engaging with AI within the context of their courses.
However, access must be paired with clear expectations. Students need instruction on responsible use, source verification, academic integrity and when AI should—or should not—be used.
The real opportunity is not simply giving students access to AI. It is helping them become thoughtful, ethical and discerning users of AI.
