As we dive into Digital Well-Being & Safety, letโ€™s look at how we can help build student awareness and understanding of  "AImaginary" relationships, where learners turn to AI for emotional companionship.

While AI is a powerful study partner, it is crucial we help students distinguish between digital support and human connection.

Discussion Challenge: How are you addressing the "human-to-machine" line in your classroom?

  • How do you (or might you) help learners maintain a human-first habit when they need emotional support??
  • How do you use Gemini to model healthy, task-based interactions?

Learning Activity (Secondary): 

  • Activity: "Fact-Checking the Bot."
  • Task: Use Gemini to generate a response on a complex topic. Have students use Google Docs to highlight which parts feel "human-like" and cross-reference the data and information against trusted sources to identify where Gemini may have made a mistake.
