Thousands of "skg_events" files being created in Google Drive by macOS Spotlight?

I am finding some users that have thousands of files in their "My Drive" that appear to created by Spotlight on macOS. Files with "skg_events" in the name.

Has anyone else experienced this and determined why it happened? Not all of my users are affected so I'm not sure why the common link is between them.

It's difficult and time consuming to deleted 500,000+ files from a user's drive.

Is Google Drive set to sync with all of their data or only to certain set folders?  It sounds to me like either 1) it is set to sync files from folders it shouldnt be or 2) they also have an apple phone that they have since connected to the ecosystem.

The files are created directly in their My Drive and the synced folders match what other users have. Since it's in My Drive I didn't think it was related to their folder sync choice.

Probably true, I was just reading through the posts that I found and it sounded likely with your post addressing Google Drive.  Sounds like its been an issue with Apple for a bit now...
