Canva web site

Hello, does anyone use the Canva software product with students?

I have one student who cannot login using the "continue with Google" option.  I keep getting an error message stating "That email address is already associated with a Canva account".

No other issues with the rest of my students using the Google login option.

Student is logged into his chromebook using his proper school account.

Cookies/cached cleared, profile deleted and re-added to chromebook.

I messaged Canva support, but I am unsure how far I will get wit that option.

Have you gone through the setup procedure with Canva and got access to the Canva admin console? Once setup you should have a Canva icon in the Waffle menu and you go straight in. It is free - but the setup is somewhat complex - so follow the Canva instructions they give you carefully.

But SSO have been configured - then I've found Canva support very good.

We are using the free version?  I am not aware of any Canva admin console......

Education get the full thing with a 1Tb workspace per user. To get this you need to apply - https://www.canva.com/education/contact-sales/

They then take you through the setup process and SSO. You then get access to the management console and can set policies and what tools specific user can use and so on.

As we have 30 or so subdomains it involved setting up some dynamic groups to tag users to specific schools and a custom attribute on each user to identify users as staff or students on Canva.

Is it possible a free account was setup by the user or a similar user in name.  I seem to recall 2 teachers in my domain that had setup an account during a conference. Then when we went to an official domain Canva setup their former accounts caused issue.

I'm leaning towards this being the issue, but how is it corrected?  Or how did you correct?

If I recall correctly, the teacher had contacted Canva through their "free" account and support removed the account allowing the domain account to properly setup.

Well that is promising, as that is exactly what I have done so far........

I've seen something similar a few times before with other websites. The user had created an account manually (i.e, setting up username/password) using their Google email address, instead of logging in via Google SSO. Later when they tried using Google SSO it wouldn't work just as you described.

Is it possible to attempt to log into Canva and then click on a "forgot my password" link to generate an email back to the student account (if external emails will pass through to the student)? That might at least get you access to the old account, albeit without using Google SSO.

So I ultimately had to go into my "wall garden" email setup to allow email messages to come through from canva.com.  The student needed to login to Canva as a personal account (which generates a login code to their email address), then disconnect his Google account under settings, which then allowed the "login with Google" option to finally work.
