Resource: AI as a Leader's Tool in Retention

Hello ELP Principal Community!

I am excited to share a workshop resource designed to help school leaders leverage AI as a collaborative partner in addressing one of our biggest collective challenges: teacher retention.

Developed in collaboration with Digital Promise and with support from Google.org, this interactive session structure moves beyond generic AI prompts. Instead, it guides administrators through a deliberate, step-by-step process to reframe problems, deeply analyze root causes, and build concrete action plans tailored to their specific school context.

💻 What’s Inside the Deck

The session structure breaks down into four actionable phases:

• 01 | Identify & Reframe: Move past the surface level to challenge your initial assumptions about a school problem.

• 02 | Deepen the Focus: Explore underlying root causes through peer dialogue and targeted AI exploration.

• 03 | Generate Solutions: Ideate a mix of immediate, resource-aligned solutions and non-conventional approaches.

• 04 | Concrete Next Steps: Leave with a rough, realistic implementation plan ready for your campus.

The framework allows leaders to choose the specific focus area most relevant to their current workload:

The deck also includes a built-in AI Literacy Evaluation tips to help leaders critically assess AI outputs for accuracy, bias, and hidden assumptions before taking action.
