Hi everyone!
My name is Sugu (he/him) and I'm the director of the media center (ICT and networking) at my school. I am the admin for the domain, suitokokusai.org.
One of the features of the admin console that I suppose would be my favorite is the management of the Chromebook devices. It makes it easy to streamline and manage all 1,000 of our Chromebooks, as well as use some nifty features within it as a quick MDM for those devices. For myself, I distribute our wifi passwords, printer settings, and I even have our rental Chromebooks clean themselves up after a student uses it to help keep our students' data secured.
For myself, I would like to use the GEAG forum in 3 ways. 1) To stay up-to-date on the admin console updates. While I subscribe to the emails, and am present on other forums, the new features come with a new interface and then I get lost on where things have moved to. I hope this community can help navigate and evaluate the new features. 2) I want to stay current on best practices on system administration in general, but focused on Google. In other words, I want to make sure that I myself am always growing in the field and not stagnating in my old tried-and-true methods. 3) Finally, I want to commisserate with fellow ICT directors in schools. Collaboration is key for the modern world, but at my school, I don't have other voices to brainstorm ideas or implement new programs. So I'm seeking that out in other venues.
Given that, for GEAG to grow, I'm not sure how I can contribute, so I'd like to see first how I fit in. Based on a very cursory knowledge of GEAG, it looks like GEAG is trying to build a mini-community of Google sysadmins who can help and support each other better than the existing forums. I'd like to be part of that process.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to meeting all of you in the future!
