How our district is approaching AI training and frameworks!

Hey WNY GEG crew! We've just begun AI training across our district. Instead of just handing out tools, our training focuses on keeping things safe and smart while truly enhancing student learning. We start with the basics, like keeping student data secure on approved tools like Gemini, and practice healthy skepticism by playing "Spot the Hallucination" to catch made-up facts and citations. From there, we look at how AI fits into solid teaching through the SAMR and TPACK frameworks. We're also introducing our teachers to the Google AI Educator resources and badges so they can build confidence as they go! To keep expectations clear, we’re using a simple "Traffic Light" system (Red, Yellow, Green) for student work, and we’ve been exploring cool Gemini Canvas features to design interactive, student-centered learning activities.

It’s been an exciting journey, but we’d love to know what’s happening in your neck of the woods! How is your district navigating AI frameworks and training right now? Drop your favorite tips or tools in the comments below!

Really like the “Spot the Hallucination” activity and the Traffic Light system—such practical ways to teach responsible AI use. We’re also exploring AI training in Hong Kong’s NGO sector, with privacy and human judgement as key considerations. Which framework has your teachers found most useful so far?
