As a teacher, what makes me want to continue is feeling that professional development starts from where I am, not from where someone imagines I should be.
The training that has stayed with me the most is what respected what I already knew, connected with the real challenges of my students, and left me with good questions, not just ready-made answers.
When that happens, I don't think about leaving the profession. I think about how to apply that knowledge to my class the following week. Good reflection!

Professional Learning Opportunity Reflection

Over the past several weeks, we’ve been focused on listening more closely to teachers, noticing patterns, and following up in ways that build trust.

That work matters. And it leads to an important next question.

Once teachers feel heard, what helps them stay and grow?

Professional development is often part of that answer. But not all PD feels meaningful or relevant to teachers’ day-to-day work.

➡️ Think about the professional learning opportunities in your school right now.

Where do you see alignment between what teachers actually need and what is being offered?

And where might there be a gap?

Reply in the comments and share one place where PD feels well-aligned or one place where it might be missing the mark. Noticing this is the first step toward making it more meaningful.
