AI has moved from a scattering of experiments to something every corner of campus touches. Teaching, research, admissions, and IT all have a stake, and someone has to set the rules.

That’s why some colleges are creating a new leadership role: the chief AI officer. The title varies, and so do the duties. The mission doesn’t. These leaders are charged with putting the policies, protections, and guardrails in place so AI can scale safely.

This virtual forum will convene AI leaders from several institutions about how they got the job, what it involves, and what they’ve learned so far.

Topics include:

How the role differs across institutions

Where AI is gaining real momentum on campus

What responsible, scaled adoption demands of leadership

What hard-won lessons were learned from the first people to hold the job
