How to hide certain staff info from the contact directory

Good morning. I have been asked to post a question to the group. We are needing to sync our staff's employee ID number from active directory to Google Admin. We need to do this because of another application we use that we want to sync staff info from Google to this application that will require the employee ID. Is there a way we can hide this ID or certain parts of an employee's information contained in Google Admin from being visible in the directory accessible to all users? In this scenario we would want to include the Employee ID in the staff\user information so we can sync it with this other application we are using, but hide that ID from other users in the district via the directory. Forgive me if I am not being clear as my knowledge of this is limited when it comes to Google Admin. I am usually dealing with devices only when in GA. Thank you in advance for any guidance you can offer!

You can pull up the user in Google admin, go to user information then scroll down to "directory sharing" and turn that off. But I believe this just hides everything. You cannot pick and choose what to show/hide.

This is the way!

The ordinary attributes can't be individually managed, but custom attributes can be hidden from all but the user themselves and admins.
