CrOS Brief Audio Delay/Interruption/Distortion when using a USB-C Dock and External audio output

Does anyone experience an issue with audio being briefly delayed, interrupted, or distorted when audio is first played after connecting to an external audio output using a CrOS device?

Our scenario is:
Chromebook>>>USB-C Dock>>>HDMI Projector>>> (Either play through integrated speaker or...) Analog audio out to amplification/speaker system

This audio issue will always happen when audio is first played following a dock connection.
The audio issue will occur after audio has already been played, then a period of no audio playing passes (sometime as small at 15 seconds) then audio is again played.

We have tested with different docks and replacing the projector with a speaker enabled monitor.
