Third-Party Email Filter?

Hi all. I was wondering how many in this group use a third-party email filter vs. how many rely exclusively on the Google Spam filter. Any thoughts on cost savings/security/etc. are much appreciated!

We do not use a third-party email filter but only Google filtering. I do, however, have additional email security settings in the Google Admin Console (Apps>Google Workspace>Settings for Gmail>Safety) set to ON for our domain. Additionally, I have Objectionable content and attachment compliance rules under Compliance set to quarantine for approval.

Como dice @bethhughes solo configuración desde la consola de administración y filtros para migrar correos a bandejas de spam o similiares.

ejemplo: se creó un filtro compartido con los docentes de mi unidad educativa para que todas las notificaciones de Classroom sean enviadas a una carpeta y así no aparezcan en su bandeja de entrada principal, centrando de esta forma la comunicación con los apoderados, pero dejando el respaldo de las notificaciones de las acciones de los estudiantes en classroom.

All Gmail security and safety settings on.

No quarantine.

Honestly don't think you will see a ROI using a 3rd party solution vs what Google is already doing for free

We used to run various 3rd party Spam products back when email was hosted on premise. When we moved to Google Workspace 6+ years ago we did not require any additional 3rd party spam solutions. We have all of the Gmail safety features and sandboxing turned ON. In my opinion Google does a great job.

Yep like most I have seen, nothing 3rd party here either, just basic Gmail with some added quarantine rules on specific messages. But that is more of a fun side project figuring out some stuff and not something we use for live emails.

We also have everything turned on that Google offers for safety and that has always been very effective. However, it was decided at a level above me that we should add a 3rd party filter solution for "extra protection" last year. Yes, it has helped somewhat but as was mentioned, I don't think the ROI is worth it. Additional staff training would have been more affordable and probably more effective.

We've used Gaggle for years (even pre-Google), but I'm told it's pricey. There are a handful of us who receive notifications when there's a serious issue - self-harm, violence, porn. We do let students and parents know it's there, and sometimes it raises false-alarms, but it's caught things built-in tools haven't, and we've been able to intervene and support kids through some really difficult stuff as a result, so the money has been worth it. It works with a combo of AI and human verification, so it saves time on that front. We have it set to monitor all Drive and Gmail content - on for students only. We also use it as our long-term storage.
