Opening a CSV from the Files app (can't set it to Sheets)

In the Chrome version of Drive, we can have a CSV file "open with" Sheets, but in the Files app on a Chromebook it is not an option and I can't figure out a way to get it there. For now, users are moving the file from the download area of the Files app into Drive. It's a fine workaround, but not ideal. Anyone know a trick? Thanks

We also had this issue, for us it seems to work now though.

When you double-click the file in the Files app it opens the "Basic Editor for office files" which then requires 2 clicks to open it in Sheets. Yes, it doesn't open in Sheet immediately but it's much better than manually uploading or importing the *.csv.

I would know the answer to this question, if the device was a Windows device. 🙂

So, I'm going to post that, even though i know it's not the answer you seek, but it might still be interesting for others to learn that it exists.

You could use gamUploader, a compilable python script I created for Windows.

You associate csv with gamUploader and when you double-click a csv file, it will upload the file to your Drive and open it in the appropriate app in Chrome.

Since it is pure python, it can probably be compiled for other platforms than Windows, but I haven't tried. Nor have I tried using it as pure python.

Si el archivo ya lo tiene en drive y puede abrirlo con "hoja de calculos" de google, desde ahí, ir a la opcion y guardar como o exportar como, buscando la mejor versión para abrir desde su computadora.
