Google Drive logout

I would like to know if there is a way to have you logged out of your Google Drive when you log out of Chrome or email. For security reasons I do not like that drives are still available even though you are not logged in to gmail

What device are you seeing this on? I tested this on my desktop Windows PC. I had Gmail and Google Drive open in Chrome. Then, I logged out of Gmail and clicked on the Google Drive tab. I could still see the Drive file names but there was a large dialog box that said, "You are not signed in." Clicking on any of the files did not show any of the contents.

I should have clarified the drives I am seeing are due to Google Drive being installed on a Window machine. So it is within Windows Explorer that I can still access the drives and folders (both my-drive and Shared). Hope this clarifies the problem.

The app is not connected to the signed in user in the Chrome browser. To sign out of the Google Drive app, you would need to go to the gear on the app > Preferences > click on the gear for Settings > then click "Disconnect account".

Is Google Drive File Stream what you have installed? It's my understanding that you have to disconnect the account from file sync in order to quit the program. (see steps below) I do not know of an easy way to just sign out of the file sync. Hopefully, someone else has a better solution.

On your menu bar, click Google Drive icon, then select Preferences .
Click the cog icon the select "Disconnect account." In the pop-up window, click OK.
On the Google Drive website, click your profile icon in the top right corner and select "Sign out."

I realize it is not connected to the app I just wish that the when you signed out of gmail it would automatically disconnect from the drives within windows explorer without having to tell it to disconnect or quit within preferences.

This shouldn't be a problem, as nobody should be using Drive for Desktop on a shared computer.

On a device where everyone is logged in with their own individual user account (as the ALWAYS should be), the DfD device isn't accessible by any other user on the device when they log in.

If it is !!! then you need to immediately report that to Google as a massive security breach.

I would like it to disconnect when I sign out and walk away from my computer even though it is not shared. If a user does not remember to disconnect it stay connected.

Yeah, there's no way to do that today.

Do give it as feedback inside the DfD app. There is always a Send feedback section of all apps and services.
